What is ISKCON 60? In the summer of 2026, as the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) marks its momentous 60th anniversary, devotees, friends, and well-wishers from across Texas and beyond will gather in Houston for a joyous and inspiring gala event on Saturday, June 13, 2026. This celebration honors six decades of spiritual transformation that began when His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada founded ISKCON in July 1966 in New York City. ISKCON of Houston was incorporated in 1977. After a 10-year period in Downtown Houston, Temple moved to the current location. Arriving alone in America at age 69 with unwavering determination and just a few dollars and books in hand, Srila Prabhupada planted the seed of Krishna consciousness in the West, introducing the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, and a path of bhakti-yoga (devotional service) that has since touched millions of lives worldwide.  From humble beginnings in a small storefront on Second Avenue in New York, ISKCON has blossomed into a global movement with 1,000 temples (centers), eco-villages, schools, vegetarian restaurants, and humanitarian initiatives like Food for Life, serving sanctified foods to those in need and fostering […]
